Description
This Stevens Model 414 Armory Model is a single-shot lever-action rifle chambered for the .22 Short cartridge, specifically designed for target shooting and military-style training. It features a heavy round barrel measuring approximately 26 inches in length, equipped with a blade front sight and a receiver-mounted rear peep sight. The firearm is constructed with a blued steel barrel and a receiver that originally featured case-hardening, now showing a matured mottled patina. The furniture consists of a straight-grip walnut buttstock with a black composition buttplate and a full-length wooden forend secured by a single steel barrel band. Verification of the manufacturer and model is confirmed by markings on the top of the barrel stating J. STEVENS A & T CO. CHICOPEE FALLS, MASS. U.S.A. PAT. APR. 17, 94. and the caliber designation .22-SHORT on the left side of the barrel. The underside of the receiver is explicitly stamped with the model number 414 and the serial number 67115. A modern black nylon adjustable sling is attached to the existing swivels. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The metal surfaces show significant finish wear consistent with age, with the receiver displaying a mottled brown patina and remnants of case-hardening colors. The barrel retains a fair amount of bluing but shows areas of surface oxidation and fine peppering throughout. The walnut stock and forend are in good structural condition, showing various scuffs, dings, and handling marks but no significant cracks. The bore was not inspected for this report. The action appears to function correctly and locks up tight, though the firearm has not been function-tested with live ammunition.
