Description
Two United States military surplus M2A1 steel ammunition boxes, commonly designated as 50 caliber size containers. Each box is constructed of heavy-gauge steel with a top-opening lid, a rubber gasket for a moisture-resistant seal, a metal tension-latch closure, and a folding steel carrying handle. Both cans feature an Olive Drab green finish with yellow stenciled identification markings. The first can is stenciled for 100 cartridges of linked .50 caliber ammunition (4-Ball M33 and 1-Tracer M17) with lot number LC-97F613L044, indicating production at the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant. The narrow end is stamped with 97, M2A1, and the manufacturer code SCF. The second can is stenciled for 840 cartridges of 5.56mm M193 ball ammunition on 10-round clips in bandoleers, lot LC 3-22A. The narrow end is stamped with the manufacturer code SCF. These units are sold as empty storage containers.

Condition report:
Both cans are in used military surplus condition. The 50 caliber stenciled can shows moderate surface wear, including light scratches and localized paint loss. The 5.56mm stenciled can shows more advanced wear with visible surface oxidation and rust concentrated along the lid edges, hinge, and bottom. Stenciling on both items remains legible. Mechanical latches and handles are functional.
