Description
This lot consists of three cast aluminum tools designed for casting lead fishing weights. The collection includes a split shot or pellet mold featuring multiple rows of spherical internal cavities for producing uniform lead shot, with the exterior embossed verbatim C. PALMER, MFG. CO. INC., WEST NEWTON PA., and 15089. Also included is a bank sinker mold designated as No 103, which contains six teardrop-shaped cavities labeled with their respective weights of 1/8, 1/4, 3/8, 1/2, 3/4, and 1 ounce. The third item is a pyramid sinker mold marked No 56 on the exterior, featuring four internal cavities sized for 1, 2, 3, and 5 ounce weights. All three molds utilize a two-piece hinged aluminum construction with integrated handles for manual operation and exhibit legible manufacturer and size designations throughout.
Condition report:
The cast aluminum surfaces on all three molds show expected oxidation, darkening, and minor surface scratches consistent with heat exposure and regular use. The internal cavities retain their definition well, though they exhibit some carbon buildup and light lead residue. The hinges remain functional and intact, and the handles show no signs of structural failure or significant damage.
