Gun Collectors Dream Auction #79 Weapons of War
Lot 113:
Sold for: $700
Description
This lot features a Japanese Type 14 Nambu semi-automatic pistol, produced at the Tokyo Arsenal and dated October 1929 (4th year of Emperor Hirohito’s reign, 10th month). The pistol is constructed from blued steel with horizontally ribbed wooden grip panels. The left side of the receiver is marked “十四年式” (Type 14), “火” (Fire), and “安” (Safe) with an arrow indicator. The right side displays the serial number “6845” and a date code “4.10,” along with a stylized “東” (East/Tokyo) factory mark. The presence of a small trigger guard is consistent with this early date of production. The trigger mechanism is noted for its smooth and light pull. Accompanying the pistol is a bright metal magazine, marked “285 N” on its base, and a light brown leather holster with white stitching and brass-toned hardware.
Condition report:
The pistol exhibits a dark, likely original blued finish with visible wear, thinning, and some surface scratches, consistent with age and use. The wooden grips show minor handling marks. The accompanying bright metal magazine shows surface wear and discoloration. The light brown leather holster appears in good, well-preserved condition for its age, with minor surface marks and some wear to the brass-toned hardware.
