Gun Collectors Dream Auction #79 Weapons of War
Lot 1237:
Sold for: $110
Description
A WWII Japanese Type 30 Arisaka bayonet, presented with its original leather scabbard. The bayonet features a single-fullered steel blade, a steel hilt with a distinctive downward-curving quillon, and two-piece wooden grip scales secured by screws. Visible markings include an intertwined ‘C’ or double-circle symbol on the blade near the guard, consistent with Tokyo Arsenal production, and stamped numbers ‘9 7 5 0’ on the hilt’s spine. The accompanying scabbard is crafted from dried and discolored brown leather, showing visible stitching and metal fittings.
Condition report:
The overall condition is poor to fair. All steel components exhibit significant surface rust and pitting. The blade shows wear and loss of finish. The leather scabbard is cracked and dried, with visible wear to the stitching and heavy oxidation on the metal fittings.
