A pair of Civil War era leather revolver holsters. These distressed holsters, likely for firearms, exhibit significant age and wear. One holster is a darker, possibly black-dyed, flap-top style secured by a brass-toned stud and leather strap closure. The other is a lighter, reddish-brown open-top type featuring a smaller retention strap and distinctive lacing along the lower edge. No discernible text, maker’s marks, or identifying stamps are visible on either item.
Condition report:
Both items show extensive cracking, loss of finish, and surface abrasions indicative of prolonged use and natural material degradation. The leather is dry and brittle in areas, with some minor losses. The stitching on the lighter holster shows wear but appears largely intact. The brass-toned stud on the darker holster is present.
