Description

A late 19th-century British military Martini-Henry IC1 Cavalry Carbine, manufactured by the Royal Small Arms Factory, Enfield, in 1881. This lever-operated falling block action carbine is constructed from dark hardwood for the stock and forend, paired with steel or iron metal components. Prominent markings on the left side of the receiver include a crown over “V.R.” (Victoria Regina), “ENFIELD. 1881.”, and a crown over “I.C.1.”, indicating its specific model and year of manufacture under Queen Victoria’s reign. The barrel and receiver bear various proof marks. “三〇七” (Japanese for “307”) is etched on the right side of the buttstock near the receiver. The adjustable rear sight is marked “100”, “200”, “300”. The calibre is .577/450, consistent with Martini-Henry carbines of this period.
