Description
A Swedish Mauser M1896 Bayonet, complete with its associated metal scabbard and brown leather frog. The bayonet features a double-edged steel blade with a central fuller. The hilt comprises a checkered metal grip, a metal crossguard, and a pommel equipped for rifle attachment. Visible markings on the crossguard include ‘I.O.1.’ and ’48 B Nº 439′, along with a small crown stamp. The ricasso bears the number ‘888’ and a crown over ‘E.A.B.’, which is also stamped on the scabbard’s metal throat. The attached leather frog has a label reading ‘MADE IN SWEDEN’.
Condition report:
The item reflects significant age and use. The blade exhibits extensive rust and discoloration. The metal hilt components show patination and wear. The leather frog is worn, discolored, and cracked in areas, with verdigris present around its metal rivets.
