Description
This lot consists of four vintage boxes of ammunition in .25 Auto and .22 Automatic calibers. The first box is a Winchester orange and blue carton for 50 cartridges of .25 Auto (6.35mm Browning) centerfire ammunition with markings including Winchester Trade Mark, 50 Cartridges, Center Fire, Smokeless, .25 Auto. Colt-6.35 M/M Browning, Full Patch, and Non-Mercuric. It contains a styrofoam tray with 50 cartridges bearing mixed headstamps such as W-W .25 Auto, Western .25 Auto, and Rem-UMC .25 ACP. The second item is a Remington UMC Kleanbore green and red box for 50 rounds of .22 Automatic Rifle rimfire ammunition specifically for the Winchester Model 1903, containing loose rounds with U headstamps. The third box is a blue and white Peters box for 50 centerfire cartridges with Kleanbore Priming, accompanied by a styrofoam tray containing 50 rounds of .25 Auto with mixed headstamps including Rem-UMC 6.35mm, W.R.A. .25 Auto, and U. The fourth box is a green Remington High Velocity box for 50 centerfire cartridges, containing loose .25 Auto rounds with W.R.A. .25 Auto, W-W .25 Auto, and Rem-UMC .25 ACP headstamps. Verbatim box markings include Winchester Trade Mark Made in U.S.A., .22 Automatic Rifle Rim Fire Winchester Model 1903, Peters Center Fire Cartridges Kleanbore Priming, and Remington High Velocity 50 Center Fire Cartridges.
Condition report:
The cartridges show typical age-related tarnishing to the brass cases and some oxidation on the lead and jacketed projectiles. The cardboard boxes exhibit significant wear, including tearing, fraying, staining, and some loss of material. The Winchester box has a partially detached flap. The ammunition appears to be a mix of original and replacement cartridges based on the varied headstamps and projectile types. We have not function-tested this ammunition.
