Description
This lot consists of four vintage metal containers of IMR 4320 smokeless powder, a propellant traditionally used for Improved Military Rifle applications. The collection includes three cans produced under the DuPont brand and one later production can from the IMR Powder Company. Key markings on the earliest can include the DuPont oval logo, IMR 4320 Smokeless Powder, and Net Wt. 16 oz. (1 lb.). Two intermediate cans are marked DuPont IMR-4320 Improved Military Rifle Powder and identify the manufacturer as E. I. du Pont de Nemours & Co. Incorporated, Wilmington, Delaware, U.S.A. The fourth container features the hexagonal IMR logo and is labeled IMR 4320 Smokeless Powder with a Net Wt. 1 lb. (454 g) and was manufactured for the IMR Powder Company, Plattsburgh, N.Y. 12901. Each rectangular can is topped with a red metal screw cap. This lot is confirmed to contain 3 Lbs Of powder across the four containers.
Condition report:
The containers show varying degrees of age and wear. The earliest DuPont can exhibits heavy surface oxidation and significant rust across all faces. The two intermediate DuPont cans are in good condition with minor shelf wear and light oxidation on the seams. The IMR Powder Company can is in very good condition with minimal wear and
