Description
This lot consists of two 1-pound metal canisters of GOEX brand black rifle powder intended for use in black powder metallic cartridge rifles. Each tin-plated steel canister features a black plastic screw-top lid and contains approximately 16 ounces of propellant, totaling 2 lbs of powder. The front labels identify the product as GOEX Black Rifle Powder and specify it as Cartridge grade with the tagline American-Made Since 1912. Side markings indicate the contents are Superfine Gunpowder. The reverse of each can provides detailed handling and storage precautions, noting the propellant was manufactured by GOEX, Inc., Explosives Division, Belin Plant, 1002 Springbrook Ave., Moosic, Pennsylvania, 18507, U.S.A. Condition report:
The canisters exhibit varying degrees of preservation. The left canister is in fair to good condition with typical shelf wear, minor surface scratches, and light oxidation along the top and bottom rims. The right canister shows significant surface oxidation and heavy rust, particularly on the reverse face, bottom edge, and around the cap area, with some staining present on the front label. The exact weight and viability of the internal contents have not been verified.
