Description
This J. Stevens Arms Company Marksman is a single-shot rifle chambered in .32 Long. The rifle features a lever-actuated action and a round barrel. Key markings include the manufacturer and model designation on the left side of the receiver, which reads verbatim J. STEVENS ARMS COMPANY / CHICOPEE FALLS, MASS. U.S.A. / MARKSMAN. The right side of the receiver is stamped with TRADE MARK STEVENS REG. U.S. PAT. OFF. & FGN. The barrel is marked 32-LONG on the upper left side near the rear sight. The serial number W 304 is stamped on the underside of the frame, along with a small numeral 6 on the tang. The rifle is fitted with a smooth walnut straight-grip stock and a matching forend. Sighting is provided by a fixed brass-bladed front sight and a simple leaf rear sight. The butt is finished with a checkered hard rubber buttplate bearing the Stevens logo. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The metal surfaces exhibit a dark, matured brownish patina with areas of surface oxidation and light pitting throughout. The smooth walnut stock and matching forend show minor dings, scratches, and wear consistent with age and field use. The checkered hard rubber buttplate remains intact with some wear to the logo and texture. The action appears to function correctly, but we have not function-tested this firearm.
