Description
This Harrington & Richardson Deluxe Topper Model 98 Greenwing Special is a single-shot, break-action shotgun chambered for 20 gauge. The firearm is equipped with a 26 inch barrel featuring a 3-inch chamber and a modified choke. The exterior metal surfaces are finished in a traditional deep bluing, while the right side of the receiver displays gold-filled commemorative engravings. The furniture consists of a dark-stained wood stock and matching forend, paired with a ventilated black rubber recoil pad that includes a white line spacer and the H&R logo. A single brass bead is mounted at the muzzle for sighting. Notable markings include DELUXE TOPPER MODEL 98 and ~ 20 GA. 3 inch MOD. (P) ~ on the barrel, while the receiver is marked Greenwing Special, HARRINGTON & RICHARDSON, INC., GARDNER, MASS. MADE IN U.S.A., U.S. PATENT NO. 3988848, and the serial number GW 17970. The action appears to function correctly, though the firearm has not been function-tested. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The shotgun is in good overall condition. The blued finish on the barrel and receiver remains strong with only minor surface scratches and light handling wear. The bore is bright and clean. The wood stock and forend are structurally sound, showing a few scattered dings and light scratches consistent with field use. The action opens and locks firmly, and the ventilated recoil pad remains in good condition without significant perishing.
