Lot 51:
Description
This is a Sears Model 5 lever-action rimfire rifle chambered for .22 Short, Long, or Long Rifle cartridges. This firearm is a store-brand variant of the Winchester Model 250 and features a 20.5-inch blued steel barrel with an under-barrel tubular magazine. The receiver is constructed of black anodized alloy with a grooved top for the installation of optics. The rifle is equipped with a smooth two-piece wood stock and forend, and a black textured synthetic buttplate. Sighting is provided by an adjustable rear leaf sight and a fixed ramped blade front sight. Prominent markings on the right side of the barrel are transcribed as -SEARS- MOD. 5 CAL. .22 S, L, OR LR – SEARS, ROEBUCK AND CO. – MOD NO 273.2340 – MADE IN U.S.A. – accompanied by a circular logo containing an S. This same S logo appears on the right forward side of the receiver, and the left side of the barrel is stamped with the characters HH. A cross-bolt safety is integrated into the trigger guard for operation. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The barrel and lever retain a strong blued finish with scattered light handling marks and minor surface scratches. The black anodized receiver shows some wear and thinning on the sharp edges along with scattered light nicks. The wood stock and forend are in good condition, showing scattered dings, shallow compression marks, and scratches in the clear finish consistent with age and use. The action appears to function smoothly, though the firearm has not been function-tested with live ammunition. The bore was not internally inspected but the chamber area appears clean.
