Lot 110:

Description
One Swedish Model 1914 (m/1914) Mauser bayonet manufactured by Eskilstuna Jernmanufaktur AB, complete with its original steel scabbard and leather suspension frog. This model was specifically designed for the Swedish Model 1894-14 carbine. The weapon features a single-edged, polished steel blade with a spear point and a prominent longitudinal fuller. The hilt assembly includes a steel crossguard with a muzzle ring and a hooked quillon, terminating in a steel bird’s head pommel. The grip scales are constructed of wood, likely beech, and are secured to the tang by two slotted screws. The ricasso is clearly stamped with the manufacturer mark featuring the letters E J positioned above a vertical anchor, which is itself above the letters A.B. The accompanying brown leather frog utilizes a two-strap suspension system with brass buckles and displays an impressed Three Crowns (Tre Kronor) Swedish national acceptance mark on the front face. The scabbard is made of steel with a blued finish and a ball finial.
Condition report:
The blade is in very good condition, retaining a bright polished finish with light runner marks from scabbard insertion and an unmarred edge. The steel pommel and crossguard show a dark natural patina and some thinning of the original finish. The wood grip scales are intact and well-fitted, showing minor field wear and darkening from handling but no cracks or chips. The steel scabbard shows significant surface wear, with the original finish mostly transitioned to a mottled gray-brown patina with some light oxidation and scuffing. The leather frog is in good antique condition, remaining supple despite age-related surface cracking and darkening. The stitching appears intact and the brass buckles show a heavy natural patina.
