Description

This Mossberg Model 44 U.S.(a) is a bolt-action target rifle chambered in .22 Long Rifle, originally produced as a training firearm for the United States military. The rifle is equipped with a 26-inch heavy-profile barrel and a receiver that both feature a blued finish. The firearm is fitted with a one-piece smooth wood stock with a semi-pistol grip and a wide target-style forend, showing an attractive natural grain. Precision sighting is provided by a Mossberg S-100 Microclick rear aperture sight and a hooded globe front sight. The rifle features a serrated black plastic buttplate and is accompanied by a green canvas web sling and one detachable box magazine. Prominent markings on the barrel include O.F. MOSSBERG & SONS, INC. NEW HAVEN, CONN. U.S.A. 44 U.S.(a) 22 LR PAT. and U.S. PROPERTY. The receiver is also stamped U.S. PROPERTY above the serial number 140186. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.

Condition report:

The blued finish remains largely intact with some thinning at the muzzle and high edges of the receiver. The wood stock is in good condition, exhibiting various handling marks, light scratches, and small dings consistent with its history as a training rifle. The bore was not inspected, but the exterior metal surfaces are well-maintained. The bolt action appears to function correctly and the trigger pull is crisp. The rear target sight adjustments operate smoothly. The detachable magazine shows some surface wear and minor spotty oxidation.
