Description

This ASFA Ankara Model 1938 bolt action rifle is chambered in 8mm Mauser and configured with a full-length hardwood stock and handguard. The rifle features a 29-inch barrel with a blade front sight and a tangent rear sight graduated for long-range fire. The metal surfaces exhibit a thinned, worn bluing that has matured into a mottled gray and brown patina with areas of surface oxidation. Key markings on the receiver ring include a crescent moon and star above the Turkish inscriptions ASFA, ANKARA, K.KALE, and the date 1940. The receiver is marked with serial number 4722, while the bolt handle is stamped 6592 and the magazine floorplate is stamped 4312, indicating non-matching components. Near the muzzle, import marks designate it as an M1938 TURKISH 8MM from C.A.I. GEORGIA VT. The stock shows expected signs of service use including numerous dings, scratches, and handling marks throughout the wood, which terminates in a metal buttplate. Accessories included are a steel cleaning rod and an original-style aged leather sling. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.

Condition report:

The metal finish shows significant thinning and wear, having transitioned to a mottled gray-brown patina with scattered surface oxidation. The bore shows signs of use and is dark but retains defined rifling. The bolt action appears to function correctly, although the firearm has not been function-tested or test-fired. The hardwood stock and handguard are structurally sound but exhibit a heavy distribution of service-related dings, pressure marks, and scratches consistent with its age and use. The leather sling is dry and shows significant cracking and wear.
