Lot 183:
Sold for: $300
Description
A Soviet Mosin-Nagant Model 91/30 bolt-action infantry rifle chambered in 7.62x54mmR. This specific example was produced at the Izhevsk Arsenal in 1925, featuring a hexagonal (milled) receiver typical of early production before the transition to round receivers in the mid-1930s. This rifle is an “Ex-Dragoon” configuration, meaning it was originally manufactured as a Dragoon model and later updated to the 91/30 standard with a hooded post front sight and a tangent rear sight graduated in meters. The barrel shank is stamped with the early Soviet RSFSR crest featuring a hammer and sickle within a wreath, the factory name ИЖЕВСКИЙ Оружейный завод (Izhevsk Weapon Factory), the date 1925 г., serial number 103969, and the Izhevsk arrow-in-triangle mark. The left side of the receiver bears modern import markings from Century Arms International: M91/30 RUSSIAN 7.62 X 54R C.A.I. GEORGIA VT. 9130031955. The bolt handle is stamped with the non-matching serial number 69620в, while the steel buttplate is stamped 103969, matching the barrel shank. The hardwood stock features metal-reinforced dog collar sling slots and a square refurbishment mark with a diagonal slash on the right side of the buttstock. The rifle is complete with its cleaning rod and steel barrel bands.
Condition report:
The rifle is in good arsenal-refurbished condition. The hardwood stock shows various handling marks, dings, and surface scratches consistent with military service and storage. The metal components retain a high percentage of their arsenal finish with thinning and silvering on the receiver edges and barrel. The bolt cycles smoothly. The bore was not inspected for this report and should be evaluated by a qualified gunsmith prior to use.
