Description

A pair of inert Model 24 Stielhandgranate (stick grenades), the standard-issue hand grenade of the German Wehrmacht during World War II, frequently referred to as potato mashers. These items are contemporary high-quality reproductions or professionally restored inert display pieces. Each grenade consists of a pressed steel explosive canister (head) with a flared base, finished in a smooth olive drab paint. The canisters are attached to turned hardwood handles that feature a light honey-colored finish and prominent grain. Each canister is stenciled in white with three lines of German text: VOR GEBRAUCH SPRENGKAPSEL EINSETZEN, translating to Before use, insert detonator. The handles are fitted with threaded steel end caps at the base. Small stamped numerical or letter codes are visible on the wood near the upper metal junction. These units are non-functional and intended for collector display or historical reenactment.

Condition report:

Both grenades are in excellent, like-new condition. The olive drab paint on the metal components is uniform and free from oxidation, scratches, or patina. The wooden handles are clean with no signs of age, wear, or field use. The stenciled lettering remains exceptionally crisp and sharp.
