Lot 187:
A Lot of 70 Rounds of 7.92x57mm Mauser Rifle Ammunition with Cloth Bandolier
Sold for: $55
Description
This lot consists of 70 rounds of 7.92x57mm Mauser rifle ammunition, commonly referred to as 8mm Mauser, accompanied by a khaki cloth bandolier. The ammunition features brass cases with visible factory annealing marks at the neck and shoulder, loaded with copper-jacketed spitzer projectiles. The cartridges are mounted on brass stripper clips, with each clip holding five rounds. The bandolier is constructed of heavy-duty khaki canvas and features six individual pockets with top-loading flaps, secured by vertical stitching. This configuration is consistent with mid-20th-century military issue, particularly associated with Turkish Mauser rifle platforms. No manufacturer headstamps, markings, or dates are clearly legible on the cartridges or bandolier in the provided images.
Condition report:
The khaki canvas bandolier remains in good structural condition, showing minor fraying and light staining from age and storage. The brass cartridge cases exhibit a layer of surface tarnish and scattered points of minor oxidation. The copper-jacketed projectiles show light surface oxidation and minor marks. The brass stripper clips show light wear and some verdigris. The ammunition appears to be live and well-preserved.
