Description

This Swedish Model 1896 (m/96) bolt-action rifle is equipped with a 29-inch barrel chambered for the 6.5x55mm Swedish cartridge, a configuration renowned for its long-range accuracy. The metal components feature a blued finish showing characteristic thinning and handling wear, particularly on the receiver and barrel high points. The receiver ring is clearly marked with a crowned C above CARL GUSTAFS STADS GEVÄRSFAKTORI 1903, while the left side of the receiver bears the serial number 127793 preceded by the inspector initials H.R. for Helge Ramsten. The rifle is mounted in a full-length wood stock, likely walnut, featuring a straight wrist, finger-grooved forend, and a traditional brass trajectory disk inletted into the right side of the buttstock. This example is configured for target competition with the addition of a receiver-mounted diopter peep sight and a hooded globe front sight. The firearm is completed with a smooth steel buttplate, and matching partial serial numbers 793 are present on the bolt handle, bolt shroud, cocking piece, magazine floorplate, and buttplate. An import mark reading SAMCO MIA FL M96 6.5X55 SWEDEN is stamped on the underside of the barrel near the muzzle. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.

Condition report:

The rifle is in good overall condition. The blued metal finish shows approximately 75% to 80% coverage with thinning consistent with use and age, along with some light surface scratches and minor oxidation spots on the barrel. The wood stock is sound and well-preserved, displaying numerous small dings, impact marks, and surface scratches typical of a service rifle. The bore was not borescoped but the overall external condition suggests it has been well-maintained. The bolt action appears to function correctly and locks up tightly, though it has not been function-tested with live ammunition. The target sights are intact and the adjustments appear operational.
