Gun Collectors Dream Auction #85 Weapons of War July 18th 10AM CST
Lot 201:
Sold for: $550
Description
This is a Swedish Model 38 bolt-action rifle chambered in 6.5x55mm, a pattern specifically produced by Husqvarna as a shorter, handier alternative to the earlier Model 96 long rifle. The firearm features a 24-inch barrel equipped with a slotted muzzle cap, a hooded front post sight, and a tangent rear sight. The receiver and barrel retain a military blued finish while the bolt assembly remains polished. The rifle is mounted in a wood stock with finger grooves and a traditional brass range and condition disk inletted into the right side of the buttstock. Key markings include the receiver ring stamped HUSQVARNA VAPENFABRIKS AKTIEBOLAG 1941 and the serial number 620210 on the left side of the receiver. Matching partial serial numbers 210 are visible on the bolt handle, bolt shroud, safety lever, and buttplate, though the front barrel band is a mismatch numbered 357. The barrel is marked with a Century Arms International import stamp C.A.I. ST. ALB. VT. along with the model and caliber designation M38 6.5X55 SWEDEN. Accessories include a cleaning rod and standard sling swivels. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The rifle is in good surplus condition. The blued finish shows thinning and honest wear consistent with military use, most notably on the barrel, floorplate, and trigger guard. The bolt remains bright with light operational wear. The wood stock is well-preserved with typical dings, scratches, and minor impressions found on surplus arms, but is free of significant cracks or repairs. The bore was not inspected, but the action appears to function correctly. We have not function-tested this firearm.
