Description

This lot consists of a collection of 8 original United States Government Issue (USGI) detachable box magazines designed for the M1 Carbine chambered in .30 Carbine. Each magazine features a 15-round capacity and is constructed from stamped steel with a dark blued or Parkerized finish. The collection includes examples produced by a variety of World War II era contractors, with seven of the eight magazines featuring distinct manufacturer codes stamped on the rear spine. Verbatim markings include one magazine stamped with AI inside a square border, one stamped SY-B, one stamped S-O, one stamped G-Q, one stamped KSG, one stamped U SG, and one stamped IA. The eighth magazine in the group is unmarked. The magazines marked AI and IA include a circular witness hole positioned near the base of the spine for round counting. These manufacturer codes correspond to established wartime producers including Autoyre, Seymour Products, Stanley Works, Quality Hardware, Keeler Brass, United Shoe Machinery, and Inland Manufacturing respectively.

Condition report:

The magazines exhibit varying degrees of service wear consistent with age and military use. The exterior finishes show thinning, scattered surface scratches, and areas of light to moderate oxidation and surface rust, most notably on the spines and floor plates of several specimens. The feed lips appear structurally sound without significant deformation, and the internal springs appear to retain functional tension. The floor plates are securely attached, and there are no deep pitting or significant dents that would likely impact standard operation.
