Gun Collectors Dream Auction #85 Weapons of War July 18th 10AM CST
Lot 214:
Sold for: $80
Description
This lot features 45 rounds of .303 British caliber rifle ammunition manufactured by the Greek Powder and Cartridge Company, recognized by the HXP headstamp. The cartridges are provided on steel five-round stripper clips, some of which are stamped with the BP marking. The ammunition utilizes brass casings that show prominent annealing discoloration around the neck and shoulder, a standard feature of military-specification production. The rounds are loaded with copper-jacketed spitzer projectiles and feature primers with a green lacquer sealant for moisture resistance. Case head markings include varying production year stamps such as 64, 68, and 82. This group of ammunition is representative of mid-20th-century Greek military production intended for use in Enfield-pattern rifles and other firearms chambered for the .303 British cartridge.
Condition report:
The ammunition is in good surplus condition. The brass cases show varying degrees of surface tarnish and light oxidation consistent with long-term storage in a military-style configuration. The copper bullet jackets exhibit some minor surface discoloration and light spots of oxidation. The stripper clips appear to be in functional condition with some surface wear and light finish loss. The ammunition is live and appears well-preserved.
