Description
This Swedish military service rifle is a Remington-pattern rolling-block design, originally manufactured at the Carl Gustafs Stads Gevärsfaktori and later updated to the Model 1867/93 pattern. Chambered for the 8x58mmR Danish cartridge, the rifle features a blued steel barrel and receiver assembly paired with a two-piece walnut stock including a full-length forend secured by two barrel bands. Technical features include a blade front sight marked -1,5 and a rear ladder sight graduated up to 500 meters. The right side of the receiver is prominently marked with a crown over a C above the date 1874, while the left side is stamped with the serial number 7986 and the inspector initials H.H. P.S. The barrel breech is extensively marked, showing the matching serial number 7986 on the left side, with the top flats featuring a crown over C, the initials P.B. G.M., and the conversion mark 239 / 93. Matching serial numbers are also clearly visible on the hammer, breech block, and the top tang of the steel buttplate. The rifle is fitted with two sling swivels and a straight-wrist buttstock. Note – As an antique or black powder firearm, this item does not require a background check.
Condition report:
The metal finish exhibits significant thinning and handling wear throughout, with silvering on the high edges of the receiver, barrel bands, and trigger guard. The wood stock has been treated with a glossy finish and shows scattered light scratches, small dings, and surface compression marks consistent with age and military use. The action appears to function correctly with a firm hammer spring and smooth movement of the breech block. The bore was not inspected. All primary serialized components are matching.
