Gun Collectors Dream Auction #85 Weapons of War July 18th 10AM CST
Lot 317:
Sold for: $55
Description
A single Springfield Armory replacement barrel for an M1 Garand rifle chambered in .30-06 Springfield. This barrel features a standard 24-inch profile and is finished in a dark Parkerized coating consistent with mid-20th century military specifications. Key markings include the Springfield Armory manufacturer stamp SA followed by the drawing number F6535448, the manufacture date 5 55, and the code MD 50. Additional proof marks including a T and a P are visible near these primary stamps. The barrel retains its original military configuration with the integral gas port and front sight splines present at the muzzle. This component appears to be a Korean War era production part suitable for restoration or repair of a period-correct rifle. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The barrel is in good used condition with the dark Parkerized finish showing moderate wear and thinning across the surface. There are visible surface scratches and scattered areas of light oxidation, primarily concentrated around the chamber end and within the milled grooves. The stamped markings remain sharp and clearly legible. The bore has not been internally inspected or gauged for erosion. The threads at both the chamber and muzzle ends appear intact and free of significant damage.
