Description

This lot contains a total of 72 rounds of 7.5x54mm French centerfire rifle ammunition, suitable for use in MAS-36 and MAS-49 series rifles. The collection consists of 20 rounds of modern Prvi Partizan (PPU) Rifle Line ammunition featuring 139-grain full metal jacket (FMJ) projectiles housed in original factory packaging. The remainder of the lot is comprised of 52 rounds of Syrian military surplus ammunition dated April 1957, with 15 rounds contained in an original cardboard box and the balance provided loose in a plastic bag. Key markings on the Syrian boxes include Arabic script identifying the manufacturer as the Syrian Republic Defense Establishment Factories (مؤسسة معامل الدفاع). The surplus cartridges feature headstamps marked with the Eastern Arabic numerals ٥٧ for the 1957 production year and the Arabic characters م د for the manufacturer, with primers sealed with blue lacquer. The modern PPU cartridges are marked with the headstamp PPU 7.5×54. This ammunition is intended for bolt-action or semi-automatic rifles chambered in this specific French military caliber.

Condition report:

The modern PPU ammunition is in factory-new condition with clean brass cases and bright, uncorroded projectiles. The Syrian military surplus ammunition shows signs of age and long-term storage. The cardboard boxes exhibit foxing, staining, and shelf wear. The loose surplus cartridges show varying degrees of surface oxidation, heavy tarnish, and some localized verdigris on the brass cases. All primers appear to be original and the rounds are live; however, as with all vintage military surplus ammunition, reliable ignition cannot be guaranteed.
