Gun Collectors Dream Auction #85 Weapons of War July 18th 10AM CST
Lot 340:
Sold for: $190
Description
This lot consists of 100 rounds of .30-06 Springfield surplus military ammunition distributed through the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP). The ammunition is organized into five original brown cardboard boxes, with each containing 20 cartridges. The top of each box displays the circular CMP eagle seal and is labeled 20 Cartridges, while the side panels are printed with 30-06 FMJ BALL. The cartridges were manufactured by the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant and feature brass casings with a red lacquer sealant around the primers. An interior flap on the packaging identifies the contents as surplus military ammunition released by the United States Army. Visible headstamps on the cartridges include LC 69 and LC 72, signifying production at the Lake City facility in 1969 and 1972. The ammunition is consistent with standard military full metal jacket ball specifications from the mid-20th century.
Condition report:
The outer cardboard packaging shows light to moderate shelf wear, including minor fraying at the corners, some creasing, and light staining, though all text and seals remain legible. The ammunition appears to be in good, live condition with original primer sealant intact. The brass casings exhibit a natural age-related patina and occasional minor surface oxidation, which is typical for surplus ammunition of this vintage. We have not function-tested this ammunition.
