Gun Collectors Dream Auction #85 Weapons of War July 18th 10AM CST
Lot 355:
Sold for: $300
Description
This bulk lot consists of 350 rounds of .30 Carbine ammunition, a caliber originally developed for the US military M1 Carbine. The ammunition is comprised of centerfire cartridges featuring brass casings and lead round-nose soft point projectiles. Included with the loose ammunition are 15 metal stripper clips, with 14 being empty and one containing 10 rounds of the aforementioned ammunition. A variety of headstamps are present across the collection, representing both American and European production. Verbatim markings observed on the cartridge bases include WCC 52 and WCC 53, indicating production by the Western Cartridge Company in 1952 and 1953. Further markings of P 75 and P 76 are also present, which are attributed to the Swiss Eidgenossische Munitionsfabrik. The entire collection is housed in a clear plastic storage container.
Condition report:
The ammunition appears to be in generally good and serviceable condition. The brass casings exhibit a dull, natural patina and some scattered areas of light tarnish, though they appear free of significant corrosion or structural defects. The lead bullet tips show varying degrees of surface oxidation, appearing as a light white powdering typical for vintage lead-exposed projectiles. The metal stripper clips show a mix of original finish, surface rust, and moderate oxidation consistent with long-term storage. All cartridges appear to be live factory loads.
