Description

This Chinese Type 24 Chiang Kai-shek bolt-action rifle is a derivative of the German Mauser Standardmodell, chambered in 7.92mm Mauser. It features a 23.6-inch barrel equipped with a post front sight and a tangent rear sight graduated to 2,000 meters. The firearm is stocked in a dark, worn wood with dual finger grooves on the forend and a straight wrist ending in a steel buttplate. Key markings include the serial number A 61617 on the left side of the receiver and AA 6161 on the barrel. A worn crest is visible on the receiver ring containing Chinese characters within a rectangular border, indicative of production at a Chinese arsenal such as Hanyang. The barrel features a Century Arms International import stamp reading C.A.I. ST. ALB. VT. M98 CHINA 7.92 CAL. The trigger guard tang is numbered 6161 and the floorplate is marked 161. The bolt assembly is mismatched to the receiver, with the safety lever bearing the number 5004. A red cloth strip is currently attached to the forward sling swivel and the rifle is missing its cleaning rod. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.

Condition report:

The metal components exhibit significant surface oxidation, areas of pitting, and a dark patina throughout, with very little original blued finish remaining. The wood stock is in a well-used state, showing numerous dings, scratches, and impressions consistent with military service and age. An accompanying tag describes the bore as being in horrible condition. The bolt action appears to function mechanically, although we have not function-tested this firearm.
