Description

A Yugoslavian military optical monocular sight, model ON-M59, manufactured by the Zrak factory in Sarajevo. This periscopic-style optic was a standard piece of equipment for the Yugoslav People’s Army (JNA) during the Cold War era, typically utilized for aiming heavy weapon systems such as the M60 82mm recoilless rifle or various mortar systems. The unit features a durable metal housing with an olive drab green finish and is equipped with a large, pleated black rubber eyecup designed to shield out ambient light. A knurled adjustment knob is located on the side of the housing, and the base includes a mounting interface for attachment to a weapon’s sighting bracket. The rear face of the optic is clearly marked with white stenciled lettering: ON-M59, the Zrak factory logo (depicting a pair of binoculars inside a trapezoid), 05837, and the serial number Br.03737. A secondary identification number, 3-45-395-8/A, is faintly stamped on the lower mounting plate. Accompanying the optic is its original cylindrical carrying case, constructed of heavy-duty brown leather with a buckle-closure lid and an adjustable leather shoulder strap.

Condition report:

The optical sight is in very good surplus condition. The olive drab finish exhibits minor surface scuffs and small paint chips consistent with service use. The rubber eyecup remains supple and is free of major cracking. Lenses appear clear upon visual inspection. The leather carrying case is in good condition, showing typical signs of age-related wear including surface creasing and darkening of the leather, with all stitching and hardware remaining functional.
