Description

This lot consists of 120 rounds of .30-06 Springfield military surplus ammunition, specifically designated as M2 Ball. The cartridges are presented in eight-round steel en-bloc clips, designed for use with the M1 Garand service rifle. Based on notations on the associated storage boxes, the ammunition was manufactured by HXP, the Hellenic Powder and Cartridge Company. The rounds feature brass cases and copper-jacketed spitzer bullets. Accompanying notes specify that the primers are corrosive. Verbatim markings on the packaging include the model designation M2 and the manufacturer code HXP, with some boxes further marked as corr. to indicate corrosive properties. The brass cases and copper jackets show varying degrees of age-related oxidation and surface discoloration. The steel en-bloc clips exhibit a range of conditions, from a preserved dark phosphate finish to significant surface rust, oxidation, and pitting.

Condition report:

The ammunition exhibits a range of conditions consistent with long-term military storage. The brass cartridge cases show varying levels of tarnish, oxidation, and surface discoloration. The copper-jacketed projectiles appear structurally sound but have lost their original luster. The steel en-bloc clips show diverse states of wear; while some retain a dark protective finish, others demonstrate heavy surface rust and pitting. The ammunition is believed to be live, though it is noted as containing corrosive primers.
