Description

This Soviet Model 1944 Mosin-Nagant bolt action carbine is chambered in 7.62x54mmR and configured as a compact infantry rifle featuring a permanently attached folding cruciform bayonet. The firearm is equipped with a 20.25 inch barrel and a blued steel finish on the receiver, barrel, and integral magazine. The carbine is mounted in a solid wood stock with a reddish tinted shellac finish, featuring finger grooves and a cleaning rod stored under the barrel. Sights include a fixed hooded front post and a tangent rear sight graduated to 1,000 meters. Key markings on the barrel shank include the 1954 date of manufacture, the Izhevsk arsenal mark of an arrow inside a triangle, and several proof marks including a circle K and a circle C. The full serial number BZ739 is transcribed on the barrel shank and is also stamped on the bolt handle and the magazine floorplate, indicating matching major components. The buttplate is marked with the Izhevsk triangle symbol and the partial serial number 739, while the right side of the buttstock is stamped with the number 4031. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.

Condition report:

The carbine remains in very good overall condition with approximately 90 percent of the original blued finish remaining, showing light thinning on the bolt, magazine edges, and bayonet assembly. The wood stock is well preserved with its reddish shellac finish largely intact, exhibiting typical minor handling dings, superficial scratches, and small areas of finish flaking consistent with its age. The bore was not inspected but the muzzle crown appears clean. The action appears to function correctly through manual cycling, though the firearm has not been live fired.
