Description
A British Lee-Enfield No. 5 Mk I Jungle Carbine bolt-action rifle chambered in .303 British, designed as a shortened and lightened version of the No. 4 rifle for use in tropical environments. The firearm features an 18.7-inch barrel equipped with the model’s signature conical flash hider and an integral bayonet lug. The metalwork displays a blued finish showing characteristic wear and thinning from military service. The rifle is fitted with a traditional wood stock set, and the buttstock is uniquely identified by a prominent hand-carved brand or mark on the left side. Technical features include a 10-round detachable box magazine, a front sight with protective wings, and a rear flip-up aperture ladder sight. Verbatim markings on the left side of the receiver include No 5 MK I (F), the production date 9/46, and the serial number X 6367. The serial number X 6367 is repeated on the wrist band. The barrel bears a Century Arms import mark transcribed as C.A.I. ST. ALB. VT. and No 5 MK I .303 U-KING. The buttstock is finished with a rubber recoil pad secured by a wrap-around metal frame. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The blued metal finish shows significant thinning and wear throughout, with areas of surface oxidation visible on the receiver, barrel, and magazine. The wood furniture displays numerous dings, scratches, and handling marks consistent with field use, with a notable hand-carved identifier on the buttstock. The rubber buttpad shows age-related hardening and wear. The bolt action appears to function smoothly, though the firearm has not been function-tested with live ammunition. The bore was not inspected.
