Lot 449:
A Set of 10 British Lee Enfield .303 Stripper Clips
Sold for: $40
Description
A collection of 10 vintage stamped steel ammunition stripper clips, also known as charger clips, designed for the British Lee Enfield series of rifles. These clips are compatible with .303 caliber rifles including the SMLE No. 1 Mk III and the No. 4 rifle. Each clip is constructed from a single piece of steel formed into a U-shaped channel, featuring four circular lightening holes along each side and an internal flat leaf spring designed to secure five rounds of ammunition. Several pieces in this group exhibit stamped characters, specifically identifying the letters R and P and the numbers 4 and 4. These Enfield clips have a dark, possibly blued or parkerized finish.
Condition report:
The clips are in used condition, showing signs of wear consistent with military surplus. All ten pieces display edge wear and finish thinning. Varying degrees of surface oxidation and rust are visible across the collection. The metal remains structurally sound.
