Gun Collectors Dream Auction #85 Weapons of War July 18th 10AM CST
Lot 463:
Sold for: $25
Description
This lot features 100 rounds of German military training ammunition chambered in 7.62x51mm NATO, which is functionally equivalent to .308 Winchester. These cartridges, manufactured by Dynamit Nobel AG, are the DM18A1B1 pattern, designed specifically for short-range practice and featuring a lightweight 10-grain plastic projectile integrated into a unitary blue polymer case. The assembly is seated into a metal rimmed base to facilitate extraction. These rounds provide high muzzle velocity with a significantly reduced dangerous range, making them suitable for training environments where standard ball ammunition is not appropriate. While compatible with firearms chambered for 7.62x51mm, semi-automatic platforms typically require a specialized practice bolt for reliable cycling due to the low recoil impulse. The ammunition is housed in two original cardboard boxes, with packaging markings including AM 32, 50 PATRONE, UEBUNG, 7,62 MMx51, DM18A1B1, and a NATO circular crosshair symbol. The lot number transcribed from the labels is LOS DAG96G0627.
Condition report:
The ammunition is in excellent, unused condition. The blue plastic cases and projectiles show no signs of cracking or age-related degradation. The metal bases and primers are clean, with only minor surface tarnish consistent with long-term storage in original packaging. The cartridges appear to be factory-loaded and live. The original cardboard boxes show typical shelf wear, including minor scuffing and small tears at the corners and tabs, but the printed text remains clear and fully legible.
