Description
This collection consists of a total of 67 rounds of 8mm Mauser centerfire rifle ammunition from several prominent manufacturers, including Herter’s, PPU, Winchester, and Remington, designed for use in firearms chambered for the 7.92x57mm cartridge. The assortment features one box of Herter’s International Match Grade ammunition with 200-grain soft pointed bullets and brass headstamped HERTER’S 8mm. Also included is a box of PPU (Prvi Partizan) Rifle Line ammunition containing 198-grain Full Metal Jacket Boat Tail (FMJ BT) cartridges with headstamps reading PPU 8mm MAUSER. A box of Winchester Super-X cartridges is present with headstamps marked W-W SUPER 8mm MAUSER. Completing the lot is a red Federal plastic cartridge carrier containing a mixture of rounds with headstamps including REM-UMC 8mm MAUSER and W-W SUPER 8mm MAUSER. The lot includes a total of 67 live rounds and two spent casings, housed in a mix of original retail cardboard boxes and a plastic carrier.
Condition report:
The ammunition is in overall good condition, with the brass cases exhibiting varying degrees of natural tarnishing, patina, and light surface oxidation. The lead tips on the soft-point projectiles show surface oxidation consistent with age. Two spent casings are present in the collection but are not included in the live round count. The original cardboard packaging shows moderate to heavy shelf wear, including scuffing, edge fraying, creasing, and some tearing, particularly to the Winchester box. The ammunition appears live and stable, though we have not function-tested these rounds.
