Lot 496:
Sold for: $35
Description
This lot consists of ten rounds of German-manufactured 8x56mmR (8mm M.30) ammunition, organized on two five-round steel en-bloc clips for use in the Austrian M30 Steyr Mannlicher carbine. The cartridges are fitted with pointed spitzer bullets and brass casings. The original cardboard box is included and is prominently printed with 10 Stück 8 mm M. 30 scharfe S-Patronen Rottw. XII. 1938 and overprinted with a large red S indicating spitzer bullets. A bullet silhouette is visible on the box face above an eagle-and-swastika proof mark and the manufacturer code P 635. Each cartridge headstamp is divided into four segments containing 19, 38, an eagle-and-swastika proof mark, and the Roman numeral VIII. Both steel en-bloc clips also feature stamped eagle-and-swastika proof marks on the bottom spine.
Condition report:
The ammunition and clips are in very good vintage condition. The brass cartridge cases show a natural aged patina with light surface discoloration and minor oxidation. The copper-jacketed bullets exhibit a darkened finish consistent with age. Both steel en-bloc clips are structurally sound and retain much of their original dark finish with some light surface wear and localized spotting. The cardboard box remains intact and displays moderate shelf wear, edge softening, and overall discoloration, though the printed text and markings remain clearly legible. The ammunition appears to be live and well-preserved.
