Gun Collectors Dream Auction #85 Weapons of War July 18th 10AM CST
Lot 533:
Sold for: $110
Description
This lot consists of 140 rounds of Soviet-era 7.62x38mmR ammunition, distributed across ten individual cardboard boxes containing 14 rounds each. These cartridges are specifically intended for use in the M1895 Nagant gas-seal revolver. The simple brown cardboard packaging is held together with metal staples and features black printed Cyrillic markings within a rectangular border. Verbatim markings on the front of the boxes include РЕВОЛЬВЕРНЫЕ ПАТРОНЫ (Revolver Cartridges), калибра 7,62 мм (7.62mm caliber), and 14 шт. (14 pieces). The cartridges feature the distinctive recessed bullet design unique to the Nagant system, which was engineered to facilitate a complete gas seal between the cylinder and barrel. These items are consistent with mid-20th-century Soviet military surplus production standards.
Condition report:
The ammunition boxes exhibit age-appropriate wear, including minor staining, scuffing at the corners, and some fading to the printed text, though the markings remain largely legible. The cardboard remains structural and intact. The metal staples show light surface oxidation. The cartridges appear to be in original, live condition and show no obvious signs of significant corrosion or degradation from external inspection.
