Gun Collectors Dream Auction #85 Weapons of War July 18th 10AM CST
Lot 556:
Sold for: $35
Description
This lot features an original factory box containing 50 rounds of .303 British centerfire ammunition manufactured by Kynoch. These cartridges are Mark 7Z S.A. Ball rounds, which utilized nitro-cellulose propellant rather than the traditional cordite, as denoted by the Z suffix. Each round consists of a full metal jacket projectile seated in a rimmed brass case. The cartridges are organized within a protective internal cardboard grid. Prominent markings on the yellow box include 50 KYNOCH 50, CARTRIDGES S.A. BALL, .303 MARK 7Z, and NITRO-CELLULOSE. The lower section of the box face is marked Manufactured at the ELEY-KYNOCH FACTORIES of IMPERIAL METAL INDUSTRIES (KYNOCH) LIMITED WITTON, BIRMINGHAM, ENGLAND. Visible headstamps on the individual cartridges are marked K 69 7, indicating production by the Kynoch factory in 1969. Note – As ammunition, these items are sold for collectible purposes only and should be handled in accordance with local regulations.
Condition report:
The cartridges exhibit a heavy and uniform reddish-brown patina and oxidation across the brass cases and primers, consistent with long-term storage. Light patches of green verdigris are present on several rims and case bodies. The original yellow cardboard box shows moderate shelf wear, including corner rounding, light crushing, surface staining, and foxing, but remains structurally sound with a functional internal grid. We have not function-tested this vintage ammunition and make no claims regarding its reliability or safety for use in firearms.
