Description
This bolt-action infantry rifle is a Brazilian Model 1908 manufactured in Germany by Deutsche Waffen- und Munitionsfabriken (DWM) and chambered for the 7x57mm Mauser cartridge. The firearm is equipped with a 29-inch blued barrel featuring a hooded blade front sight and a tangent leaf rear sight graduated to 2,000 meters. The action is built on the robust Mauser 98 pattern with a three-lug bolt polished in the white and a fixed internal box magazine. The rifle is mounted in a full-length walnut stock with a straight wrist, upper handguard, and a steel buttplate, accompanied by two barrel bands, a bayonet lug, a cleaning rod, and sling swivels. Key markings include the receiver rail stamped DEUTSCHE WAFFEN- UND MUNITIONSFABRIKEN OBERNDORF AN. and the receiver ring featuring the Brazilian national crest above MOD. 1908 and the serial number PM 09388.30. The left side of the receiver bears an importer-applied serial number SER. 19080938830 along with various proofs including an alpha, 44, L1, and a circled B. The barrel is stamped with the import mark 1908 GERMANY 7MM C.A.I. GEORGIA VT. identifying Century Arms International as the importer. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The rifle displays a service-worn appearance with approximately 60% of the original blued finish remaining, showing thinning and transition to a gray patina on the receiver and bolt handle. The wood furniture is in good condition, exhibiting numerous small dings, scratches, and handling marks consistent with military use, though it remains free of major cracks. The bore is described as frosty but retains strong, well-defined rifling. The bolt action appears to function correctly and cycles smoothly, although we have not function-tested this firearm for live fire.
