Description
This Italian Modello 1891 Moschetto per Truppe Speciali (TS) is a bolt-action carbine chambered for the 6.5x52mm Carcano cartridge. Originally designed for special troops such as engineers and artillerymen, this example features an approximately 17.7-inch barrel equipped with a bayonet lug and a front blade sight. The metal components exhibit an original blued finish that has aged into a dark brown patina, with the receiver housing a turned-down bolt handle and an integral box magazine. The full-length wood stock is fitted with side-mounted sling swivels and a rear tangent sight graduated from 6 to 15. Key markings include the manufacturing location BRESCIA and the date 1902 stamped on the barrel shank. The left side of the barrel shank is marked with the serial number B 1116, and the receiver ring displays a circular proof mark containing the letters CG. The right side of the buttstock features a distinctive rectangular wood patch repair, likely an arsenal-level refurbishment. The action appears to function correctly, though we have not function-tested this firearm. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The carbine is in fair to good condition, exhibiting signs of extensive military service. The metal finish shows significant thinning and has transitioned to a dark chocolate brown patina with scattered areas of light surface oxidation and minor peppering. The wood stock shows heavy field wear, including numerous dings, scratches, and abrasions consistent with its age, along with a well-fitted rectangular wood patch on the right side of the butt. The bore is not visible for inspection. The bolt cycles and the trigger releases, but the firearm is sold as a historical collectible and has not been test-fired.
