Gun Collectors Dream Auction #85 Weapons of War July 18th 10AM CST
Lot 566:
Sold for: $50
Description
This lot consists of 64 rounds of .303 British Mark VII ammunition packaged in two original 32-round cardboard boxes. The cartridges are constructed with brass cases, purple primer sealant, and spire-point full metal jacket bullets. The outer boxes are marked in green ink with the text 32 CARTRIDGES, .303 INCH, MK 7, an upward-pointing broad arrow symbol, and the acronym I.S.A.A. with the identification code H 3282. Headstamps on one set of 32 rounds are marked RAL 54 7, indicating production by the Royal Ammunition Laboratories in 1954. The second set of 32 rounds features headstamps marked U VII 42, signifying South African production from 1942. Both boxes contain a full complement of 32 rounds arranged in internal cardboard grids with one round resting horizontally across the top of each box.
Condition report:
The cardboard boxes show age-related shelf wear including some crushing, small tears, and handwritten numbers 17 and 42. The cartridges exhibit varying degrees of tarnish and mild oxidation to the brass cases consistent with long-term storage of military surplus. The primers appear well-seated with intact purple sealant. The ammunition appears to be live and in good collectible condition.
