Lot 585:
Sold for: $200
Description
This is a sporterized Nagoya Arsenal Arisaka Type 99 bolt action rifle chambered in 7.7x58mm Arisaka, modified for sporting use. The rifle features a blued barrel equipped with a winged front sight and a sporter-style adjustable rear leaf sight. Key markings include a defaced Imperial chrysanthemum on the receiver bridge situated above the Japanese characters transcribed as 九九式, which signifies the Type 99 model designation. The left side of the receiver is stamped with the serial number 46150, preceded by a series mark and followed by the Nagoya Arsenal symbol of four overlapping circles. The firearm is mounted in a custom Fajen wood stock featuring a high-gloss finish, a Monte Carlo comb, a raised cheekpiece, and a single sling swivel on the underside of the forend. The stock is embellished with diamond-shaped abalone or mother-of-pearl inlays on both sides of the buttstock, with the initials MH inlaid on the right side. The butt is finished with a textured black plastic plate marked FAJEN. The metal components retain a dark blued finish with minor surface wear and light scattered oxidation. The action appears to function correctly, though we have not function-tested this firearm. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The metal retains a strong dark blued finish with some thinning at the muzzle and edges, as well as light surface oxidation on the receiver and bolt handle. The custom wood stock is in good condition with a durable high-gloss finish, showing only minor dings and handling marks. The decorative abalone inlays are intact. The bore was not inspected for this report. The bolt action moves smoothly, but mechanical safety and firing capabilities have not been verified.
