Lot 601:
German Military M.30 Ammunition 105 Rounds 8x56mmR 1938-1939
Sold for: $150
Description
A lot of 105 rounds of German military ammunition, specifically the 8mm M.30 (8x56mmR) cartridge designed for use in Steyr-Mannlicher rifles. This group includes nine individual cardboard boxes, each containing ten rounds, and three steel en-bloc clips each loaded with five rounds for a total quantity of 105 rounds. Key markings on the box labels include 10 Stück / 8 mm M. 30 scharfe / S-Patronen / B above a large red stylized S and the date XII. 1938. The manufacturer code P 635 is present below a German military acceptance mark depicting an eagle clutching a swastika. Detailed inspection of the cartridge headstamps reveals the year 1939, the month numeral VIII, and an eagle-over-swastika proof mark, which matches the proof mark visible on the sides of the steel en-bloc clips.
Condition report:
The cardboard boxes show age-appropriate wear including edge fraying, light staining, and minor tearing to the flaps. The ammunition itself exhibits surface tarnishing and a natural patina on the brass cases, though the primers appear seated and undisturbed. The steel en-bloc clips show significant surface oxidation, rust, and pitting. The ammunition appears to be live.
