Gun Collectors Dream Auction #85 Weapons of War July 18th 10AM CST
Lot 607:
Sold for: $225
Description
This lot consists of 425 rounds of 9mm Largo centerfire ammunition manufactured by the Spanish state arsenal Empresa Nacional Santa Barbara in Toledo. The ammunition is organized into 17 cardboard boxes, with each box containing 25 cartridges held within a white plastic internal tray. The rounds feature brass cases loaded with copper-jacketed round-nose full metal jacket projectiles. The printed Spanish text on the boxes identifies the manufacturer as Empresa Nacional Santa Barbara de Industrias Militares S.A. TOLEDO and specifies the quantity as 25 Cartuchos and the caliber as 9mm LARGO. The cartridge headstamps are marked verbatim with 9-L at the 12 o’clock position, SB at the 6 o’clock position, and the digits 7 and 7 at the 9 and 3 o’clock positions respectively, indicating production in 1977.
Condition report:
The cardboard boxes show moderate shelf wear consistent with age, including minor corner crushing, light staining, and some edge fraying. The ammunition itself exhibits significant visible oxidation and notable green verdigris corrosion, which is primarily concentrated around the primer pockets and across the case heads. The projectiles appear dull but remain securely seated in the cases. While the ammunition appears to be live and unspent, the presence of surface corrosion may impact reliable feeding and ignition.
