Description
This is a sporterized bolt action rifle built on a Rock Island Arsenal Model 1903 receiver, chambered in .30-06 Springfield. The rifle features a tapered sporter barrel and a blued finish on the receiver. It has been modified for sporting use with a wood stock featuring a Monte Carlo comb, a pistol grip, and a brown rubber recoil pad. Sighting is provided by a Redfield receiver-mounted aperture peep sight and a front sight base mounted at the muzzle. The bolt handle has been turned down to clear optics or sights, and the bolt body remains in the white. Two sling swivels are mounted on the underside of the stock. The receiver ring is stamped with the markings U.S. ROCK ISLAND ARSENAL. MODEL 1903 over the serial number 351197. The front sight base is marked CHRISTY. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The barrel exhibits visible patches of surface oxidation and pitting along much of its length. The receiver bluing shows thinning and wear consistent with age. The wood stock is structurally sound but displays numerous dings, surface scratches, and compression marks from handling. The Pachmayr recoil pad is intact but shows light wear. The bore was not inspected and the action has not been function-tested, although it appears to operate correctly.
