Lot 660:
Carl Gustafs Stads Gevärsfaktori Model 1896 Bolt Action Sporterized Rifle 6.5x55mm with 24 Inch Barrel 1918
Sold for: $325
Description
This lot consists of one sporterized bolt-action rifle chambered in 6.5x55mm, built on a Swedish military Mauser action. The rifle features a tapered barrel measuring approximately 24 inches in length with a blued finish. The receiver is similarly blued, while the bolt assembly is polished and has been professionally modified with a turned-down handle to provide clearance for potential optics. The firearm is fitted into a custom, high-gloss wood stock that includes a Monte Carlo comb, decorative checkering on the pistol grip and forend, and a black rubber recoil pad embossed with a ram’s head logo. Key markings include a crown cipher on the receiver ring over the text CARL GUSTAFS STADS / GEVÄRSFAKTORI / 1918. The left side of the receiver is marked with the serial number HK 451557, and the matching partial number 557 is found on the bolt body and the cocking piece. The original military iron sights have been removed, and the barrel remains without replacement sights. The rifle is equipped with sling swivel studs on the forend and buttstock. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The blued finish on the barrel and receiver shows approximately 85-90% coverage, with typical thinning at the muzzle and handling wear along the edges of the receiver and floorplate. The polished bolt assembly shows light operational wear and minor surface discoloration. The custom wood stock is in good condition, exhibiting only minor handling marks and a few small dings, with the checkering remaining sharp. The bore is bright with strong, visible rifling. The action appears to function correctly, though we have not function-tested this firearm.
