Description

This is a sporterized British Lee-Enfield No. 4 Mk I bolt-action rifle chambered in .303 British. Originally manufactured for military service, the firearm has been converted for sporting use with a modified walnut stock featuring a shortened, rounded forend. The rifle retains its original hooded front blade sight and a flip-up aperture rear sight, though a black commercial scope mounting rail has been added to the top of the receiver. The metal components show a thinning blued finish. The buttstock has been fitted with a brown Pachmayr White Line rubber recoil pad marked Los Angeles 15, California U.S.A. Visible markings on the left side of the receiver include the model designation No. 4 Mk. I. The left side of the buttstock socket is stamped with the manufacturer code M47C indicating BSA Shirley, followed by ENGLAND, the production date 1944, and the serial number H33630. Various British military proof marks, including the broad arrow, are stamped into the barrel and receiver. The rifle is equipped with a detachable box magazine and a black leather sling. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.

Condition report:

The metal finish exhibits a general thinning of the bluing with significant wear on the receiver, bolt handle, and magazine. The wood stock is in good condition with scattered dings, impressions, and surface scratches from field use but remains free of major cracks. The Pachmayr recoil pad shows some hardening and minor losses at the toe and heel. The bore remains bright with strong rifling. The action appears to function correctly; however, we have not function-tested this firearm.
