Description

This Savage Model 720 is a semi-automatic shotgun chambered for 12 gauge, 2-3/4 inch shells, based on the reliable Browning long-recoil action. It features a blued barrel equipped with a Lyman-manufactured Cutts compensator, currently fitted with a “12 FULL” marked choke tube and a single front bead sight. The barrel is marked “SAVAGE ARMS CORPORATION UTICA, NEW YORK, U.S.A. MODEL 720” and further indicates “PROOF TESTED — 12 GAUGE — 2-3/4 INCH CHAMBER —”. This shotgun displays United States military provenance, with the left side of the receiver stamped “P”, “8”, and “U.S.”, complemented by corresponding “P” and “8” marks on the barrel. The serial number “79874” is stamped on the underside of the receiver. The firearm is fitted with a walnut forend and a walnut buttstock, the latter of which features a brown ventilated rubber recoil pad marked “Pachmayr GUN WORKS LOS ANGELES, CALIF.” The forend has a notable longitudinal crack on its underside. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.

Condition report:

The original blued finish shows significant thinning and wear from use, with scattered patches of surface oxidation and light rust appearing on the receiver and barrel. The walnut furniture shows various dings, scratches, and handling marks consistent with its age and military service, including a prominent longitudinal crack on the underside of the forend. The action appears to cycle mechanically, but the firearm has not been live-fire tested. The bore was not inspected.
